AI and the Automotive Industry: Optimization or Revolution?
15th Academic Award for Management Research – Syntec Conseil Award 2024
This video presents the results of a study on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the automotive industry, focusing on the sector’s major historical players. The study reveals that AI is primarily used for incremental improvements, such as task automation, rather than for disruptive innovations.
This “exploitation” optimizes existing processes without radical transformation. The organizational approach is also surprising: instead of a “top-down” strategy led by data scientists, AI is integrated in a “bottom-up” manner by engineers who apply it within their areas of expertise at the end of the development process.
This shows that AI can be a driver of optimization and creativity when used in a gradual and distributed manner. This method could also be applied to other emerging technologies across various sectors.
