ADMISSIONS TO THE GRANDE ECOLE PROGRAMME: FIRST YEAR, SECOND YEAR, THIRD YEAR

  • Grande École Programme – Bac to Master’s degree level (Bac+5)

    • State-recognised Master’s degree qualification
    • Studies from the Baccalaureate to Master’s degree level (Bac+5)
    • 3 semesters in universities abroad (90 partner universities across the world)
    • Up to 19 months of work placement in France or abroad
    • Curriculum flexible from the fourth year onward: International Curriculum or Block-Release Curriculum
    • 14 specialisation options in fifth year (Luxury Sector, Digital Marketing, Events, Finance, International Negotiation, Design, etc.)
    • Double degree with an engineering school (ENIM)

    Who can apply for the ISTEC Exam?

    First year: When they register, candidates must be in Terminale (final year of secondary school in France) or already hold the Baccalaureate or an equivalent foreign qualification

    Second year: When they register, candidates must be in year Bac+1 or already have passed year Bac+1 or hold an equivalent foreign qualification

    Third year: When they register, candidates must be in year Bac+2 or already have passed year Bac+2 or hold an equivalent foreign qualification

    Candidates may only register once in the exam per academic year.

    How is the Exam organised and what are the tests?

    The written tests are held by the TEAM Exam body in your chosen town.

    The oral tests are held on the ISTEC campus in Paris.

    When you register on the TEAM Examination website, you select:

    • a date for the written testsfor three business schools + an exam centre (Paris, Lyons, Toulouse, Rennes, etc.)
    • a date for the oral tests. You can select from a range of dates and the oral tests can be sat on the same day as the written tests.

    For candidates sitting all the tests on the same day, lunch is provided in the ISTEC cafeteria.

    Candidates may sit the tests from December for the start of the new school year in September 2016.

    THE ENTRANCE EXAM TESTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

These five tests are as follows: duration coefficient
1 – Written tests

·         POST-BAC TAGE (Entry to first year)

the Post-Bac TAGE [Business Management Aptitude Test] consists of two parts, corporate communication and qualitative and logical analysis for business.

OR

·         TAGE 2 (Entry to second and third year)

TAGE 2 consists of three parts: oral, arithmetic and logic.

2 – Written test of the TEAM Examination: English
The test takes the form of a multiple-choice questionnaire and is designed to assess grammatical knowledge, range of vocabulary and candidates’ capacity for understanding a text.

3 – Written test of the TEAM Exam: 2 mandatory options

·         Option 1 “International Perspective”: choose from German, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Hebrew, Italian, Portuguese, Russian or International culture

·         Option 2 “Science and Culture”: choose from mathematics, digital culture or economics and sociology

4 – ISTEC oral test: Group interview

  • Preparation of a specific case subject (30 mins)
  • Group interview on the specific case (30 mins)

This interview aims to assess candidates’ ability to integrate and work in a team and assess their social behaviour, self-control, exercise of autonomy, responsibility and imagination.

5 – ISTEC oral test: Individual Interview

  • Preparation of a subject of general culture (15 mins)
  • Interview on the subject of general culture + interview on motivations (30 mins in total)

This interview assesses candidates’ knowledge of general culture, their main areas of interest, human qualities, capacity to put forward proposals, ability to present their ideas in an ordered fashion, ability to succeed in their studies at ISTEC and capacity to hold future positions of responsibility in a company. The interview takes the form of a discussion with the examiners, which, in particular, covers candidates’ backgrounds, their motivations for wanting to attend ISTEC and their plans for the future.

Once the tests and assessments have been completed, the candidates are classified, taking into account the overall average obtained in the tests with application of the coefficients.
The admission panel draw up the final list of admitted candidates according to merit and the number of places offered.

What is the cost of registering for the ISTEC Exam?

Exam fees can only be paid on the TEAM Exam website by bank card.

The amount of registration fees to apply for the TEAM Examination in a school is €150 incl. tax and €25 incl. tax per additional school. (50% for grant holders)

When is the Exam held?

For the start of the new term in February 2016 (only for first year students): The exams will be held in December and January

For the start of the new school year in September 2016: The exams will be held between February and September.

How to register for the examination

Register for the examination (written tests + oral tests) directly on the TEAM Exam site:

  • You will automatically receive notification from the TEAM Exam body to attend pursuant to the date of the written tests + exam session centre that you have selected.
  • You will automatically receive notification from ISTEC to attend pursuant to the date of the oral tests that you have selected.

When registering for the exam, a candidate area will be automatically created for you on the ISTEC site, which will contain all the required information (notification to attend, schedule of the day of the exam, results of the exam, etc.). You will be provided with access ID details on your notification to attend the oral tests.

EXAM PAST PAPERS

Candidates should prepare accordingly for sitting these exams. Here is some advice for performing well in the tests:

  • In order to prepare as well as possible for the entrance exam you can take an orientation test, providing you with a better awareness of your professional interests; you can do this test directly on the TEAM Examsite
  • The past papers are provided every year to be consulted and downloaded for free on the TEAM Exam website
  • You can also prepare for the TAGE test: In order to increase your chances of success, the TEAM Exam body offers preparation sessions for the Post-Bac TAGE and TAGE 2. Schedule of the preparation and registration sessions on the TEAM Exam website

USEFUL ADVICE FOR THE EXAM

Here is some advice from ISTEC students that will stand you in good stead on the day of the examination:

Written tests:

  • Catch up with current affairs
  • Download exam past papers
  • Complete the exam tests under exam conditions, using a timer
  • Find out as much as you can about ISTEC and the programme for which you are applying
  • Be able to describe your personality
  • Be yourself and be sincere
  • Dress professionally
